Alright, here's some stuff I did during the week. Still spent it w a couple a friends though nowhere as exciting as last week I would think..
Bonifacio High Street and Serendra (Day and Night)
Went there for lunch with Jen on Thurs - her last day was Friday.. quite sad ah.. she's been around a while, and always happily took my neuroses at work. During my stay she very graciously brought me around too and made me feel welcome too.. we had a pretty good talk at this Spanish-Filipino food place at Boni High, where I realized.. the food there is a beeeet similar to Chinese?!
Apparently a lot of expats live nearby, so Boni High and Serendra (just across the road) is somewhat like a chill/hangout place (or like the Filipinos say, "Gimmick" place) where you can sit, jog, walk your dog, or simply people watch.
Bamboo Rice - like our glutinous rice
Chicken adobo - like our lor2 kuey1
(Forgot the name) - like our poh piah!!
On Friday night Carol (my trainee) invited me for a walk and a drink, again to Boni High and Serendra. I think she knew I had no plans on for Fri and took pity.. which was fine by me, totally! heehee. We went to Conti's, a place more well-known for pastries but which also serves local favourites.
It was pretty good , actually. Besides the great food.. My meek trainee mutates into this outgoing chirpy gal when we're outside of the work context! Scary. haha..but we had fun eating and just talking crap.. and I'm still so fierce to her at work...........
After that she brought me to Fully Booked, this mega bookstore with like 5 storeys. FIVE! I could and almost lost myself in there..
Outside there was this guy with his huge dog. Carol blurted:" Isn't that... A Beethoven?" heehee
OK.. on to Sat, which as earlier mentioned was pretty quiet. I again took the Jeepney and went to another part of Makati to look-see. Actually Makati itself is pretty alright, everywhere I turn there are guards, and even the side streets are pretty ok for some exploration during the day. Not sure about night though, and .. not even going to attempt that!
It was pretty darn hot - almost cloudless!
Found a cool place for grub, along this street (dunno what street..). It links 2 boutiques and sells some Viet/Thai stuff. I just bought sandwiches and drank some odd-tasting dalandan juice (It's like some green orange juice - I don't know if the weird taste is due to dirty ice cubes or just the fruit itself - tasted like lime + rags.. bleurghh)
See the hair? long already right? You know my standard SOP when going to different countries right? Haha.. went to FP and chopped it off.. I think it looks like all my usual short hair styles.. what do you think? or do I look (more) nerdy (than usual? :( )
Chick lit
Hmm yup that's about it.. it's been a while now, Ghana and Aust are still drawing at 1 all. :S not that I'm really focusing on this game, hee
Till the next post,
Bee
