Dear Friends,

Greetings in the Lord.

This month has been a busy one. We run two festivals in different areas of Imphal. The 1st festival from 21 – 23 April and the 2nd 27 – 29 April. It was encouraging to see many locals volunteering to help, what fascinates me more is that the local helpers are Hind us not yet Christians.

We started off with a debriefing of the helpers and run the festivals in the afternoon from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm.
It is an experience for all of us to see the community come together for a good time of fun. Most of the families in the Metro city like Imphal are from different tribal groups, with diverse cultural background. Some children are from a well off families while some are daily wage earners and also going into different schools. Therefore, there is not so much of interaction between these children. But at Fusion Kids’ Club all these children come together under one same roof.

At first glance it seems the Festivals are for young Children, at closer look we see the older Youths and the mothers also having a go at some of the activities (fun centres). The community spirit always takes centre-stage. The focus of Fusion is also to build a community Spirit.

At Fusion we teach all the participants Justice, Mercy and Compassion. Where the little children can grow learning the art of loving, caring and sharing what they have with others around them who may not have the same privilege as they do.
It is difficult to maintain discipline, with almost everyone wanting to go first and sometimes waiting in the long queue for their face paint or the circus skills or the walking sticks, or the balloons and so on.

But they learnt that at the end of the day there has to be justice through our resoluteness but at the same time showing mercy and compassion. And for that we get their respect.
It was also nice to see the parents cooperate with the staff team in maintaining overall conducive atmosphere for the Kids to have fun and learn from the activities we put together.

That is what we do in the community. We want to build a community where young people learn from early stage to live together peaceably with all other communities in the locality. We teach them Kingdom Values (Christian Values) through our lives and action. It is difficult to preach and teach our Christian faith in the hardcore Hindu society like ours but through Kids Club we have easy access. It is a slow process but very effective in reaching out to the otherwise impossible Hindu culture. Although they are aware that we are Christians, we are readily accepted in their midst.

At the moment we have two invitations from other localities to conduct similar festivals but because of the cost in organizing such festivals we have decided to leave it until August-September 2010, where the Delhi Fusion Team are joining us. We would very much appreciate your prayers and support in any way you could. Right after the Aug-Sept Festival some of us will be going to Delhi to do Festivals with the International Team headed by Fusion Australia (Fusion International) at the Commonwealth Games. So much coming up in the next few months especially with the Weekly Kids Club at three different places in Imphal City.

On the Socio-Political front: Manipur, a tiny state in the far-east of the Indian Sub-continent, bordering Myanmar is in the National Paper for the past five days for the wrong reason. For over four decades the Nagas have been fighting for independence. In the first week of May their leader Th. Muivah, who has been living in Norway was to visit his birth place, Somdal Village for the first time in over forty years with the approval of the Indian Home Ministry but the people of Manipur objected to this visit. The standoff turn very ugly with tension running high between the Manipuri Meiteis and the Tribal Nagas. The Church is praying for a peaceful solution to the present problems we all are facing. Please also pray for us.

Thank you for your prayers and support. God bless you.

Your faithful partner in the Field
Moses Serto
