I've never really liked being tasked with soliciting donations. In the past, more often than not I'll just hold on to the donation cards till it was time to submit and then I'll simply fill up 3 or 4 columns with fictictious names with MINIMUM contributions and hand up the card. Job done. Hassle free. Hee
When NLC announced that we're raising funds for the 2 children's charity and that we'll be given donation cards to help solicit funds, I was filled with enthusiasm. I likened this donation card to a single gold coin entrusted to me by my Master. Don't understand? Ok, here's my one-of-a-kind-weirdo-explanation:
Standing on a pulpit delivering a sermon - 10 gold coins
Worship Leader, Church elder or deacon - 5 gold coins
Fundraising with the aid of donation card - 1 gold coin
Indeed, God wants to see how we handle his 1 gold coin before He decides if we are worthy of handling 5 or even 10 gold coins. I am sure we all know what happened to the servant who was given that solitary gold coin, it was taken from him and given to the servant with 10 gold coins (20 if you include the 10 more he earned). No way am I letting Pastor Abraham have my one and only gold coin! I intend to use it to score points with God!
For the first time in my life, a donation card is more than just a donation card. It is a chance to serve God in an easy yet achievable way! More than that, it is also an opportunity for us to spread God's blessings to our friends and colleagues!! It's true! Every single one of our friends and colleagues who donates will be blessed by God because they are contributing to God's ministry. Let us do away with our skeptism and cynicism and put past experiences with donation cards behind us. God wants to bless our friends through us.
What are we waiting for?

Acts 20:35
“In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' "
