I was admitted to TTSH on Thursday (29 July) afternoon, due to enormous pain on my left leg from thigh to ankle, it happened suddenly when I was in the office going to attend a meeting, I was neither able to sit nor stand or walk.

The first helper came across my mind was my SG’s mentor, Elder Yeoh HH (NLC), following then I informed my Sister Lisa & Cat. Elder Yeoh responded immediately and came to pick me up within 30 mins. I’m so grateful that my God is a real and on time provider and I have Elder Yeoh instant help during great pain.
Even in TTSH A&E, I was suffering great pain. The senior doctor in A&E quickly gives me a morphine injection and admitted immediately.
After the injection effect faded, the severe pain resumed! I can’t ever do my normal passing motion and having any rest…..

Suddenly, I saw Senior Pastor (DR) Abraham Lee (NLC) and Mrs Lee walking towards my bed, he saw me and hold my hand tightly and told me that he & our Lord (Jesus Christ) knew that I’m in great pain and he will pray for healing and pain release. After the prayer from Senior Pastor (DR) Abraham Lee, the nurse quickly gave me another injection and I fall asleep again.

After hours later, when I woke up, the pain on my left leg diminished amazingly, I thought the drug still take effect, so I quickly requested the nurse to help me to toilet, after then, took my meal.

Surprisingly, even after 12 hours, the severe pain didn’t resume, other than some pain at my thigh muscles and ankle, and numbness from my toe to upper part of ankle. Thereafter, even before and after the surgery, this severe pain didn’t occur. Hence, I knew that our Lord has done miraculous work, to relieve my severe pain, via Senior Pastor (DR) Abraham Lee prayers, therefore, our Lord has made me believed that “The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective” . Give thanks to our amazing Lord Jesus Christ, Senior Pastor (DR) Abraham Lee and Mrs Lee for their prayers.

Give thanks to our Lord that HE has arranged Mr (Dr) Yu Chun Sing attend to and handle my case as well as the surgery. Mr (Dr) Yu is a humble, kind, understanding and expert in Spine surgery (HOD). He is the only doctor whom I came across that recommended patient to look for 2nd opinions and requested the hospital to provide all the MRI details and reports to the patient. Amazingly, after getting 4 specialists doctors opinions from different hospitals and an opinion from one of my friend (MO), their feedbacks were “if Mr (DR) Yu is attending to your case, you are in good hands” one even pointed out that, “you are so lucky to have Mr (Dr) Yu to handle your case, so just do as he recommended”. Thanks God for giving me such a professional & good doctor. Praise the Lord!!!

Give thanks to all the nurses and staff in TTSH, TW12B, they are the “5 mins staff” which mean, whenever, the patient (me) pressed the call bell, they will appeared at the bed side within 5 minutes attending to our needs,regardless of day or night. They are so efficient and effective and their services are gentle and kind, which relieved plenty of our pains; their services are 1st class, I felt so thankful & proud that we have such a team of responsible and professional medical staff in Singapore.

Give thanks to my mentor Elder Yeoh & Doreen for their daily visiting, prayers, provision, care and concern. They let me feels the unconditional loves from Christ.

Give thanks to Elder Jeff Tang morning visiting, prayers and SMS concern; his cheerful smiles make me feel the joy from our Lord.

Give thanks to Pastor Zhou & Pastor Vincent visiting and prayers which give me strengths to move on in our Lord, even under great pain.

Give thanks to Bro. Peter Tay, you was the 1st SG member visited me when I was in great pain, thanks for your comforts; you are caring & timely, a wonderful brother in Christ.

Given thanks to Sis. Serene Gan, whenever I woke up, I saw her smiling face, sometime gave me a shock! Ha ha... I prays that you can be a SG lead to shepherd our Lord’s sheep.

Given thanks to Sis. Dinah & Serene great help in looking around for 2nd and more doctors' opinions with sister Lisa to make decision on this major operation, yours efforts and helps in Christ are priceless.

Give thanks to Joyful, EM2, EM1 & YA members; Gene, Jackie, Jess, Bee, SerLin, Lindsay, Ray, Simon, Anvenia, Peter Lee, Agnes, LiFang, Chris oh, AL, Kerrine, Susan Lee, Teresa, Wendy, and many others kind friends who take times visited and prays for my recovery. Please accept my heartfelt appreciation for all you have done on me and the gifts and comforts given. Pray that our Almighty God will bless you all many many many, in all days when we journey with our Lord Jesus Christ.

Give thanks to my boss Mr. Tan recommended another well know doctor as alternate opinion, as well as my colleagues: Willy, Lynn & Pei Mei visited when I was in hospital, thank you very much for your kindness & concern.

Last but not the least, I must give thanks to our Lord giving me a lovely sister Lisa and lovely wife Cat, their loves, cares, concerns, supports and patient, given to me, all times, especially during this critical time, which are beyond description, I only can give thanks , give thanks and give thanks.

I hope to recover sooner possible and able back to my normal living, to work, to serve, to worship, to praise and to fellowship with the Lord and my fellow members soon. God’s bless.

Creation or by luck?

Indeed, I have did nothing much, but only glad that a sinner like me which full of weaknesses, God still using me to serve him.

Truly is not what I can do, is our Lord Jesus Christ who died for me first, so that I can serve our holy God without fear.

This surgery has revealed to me God’s amazing creation of our body, which every parts of our body are placed just nice at the part it shall be. As for me, may be due to some wrong posture or unknown injury, two small parts of my spine discs moved and compressed onto the nerves, which caused great pain and immobility of my left leg, hence, require a major surgery to cure it. If anyone believed that our body was an evolution and not created, I think this must be a greater Joke!

Some stuff on a good friend

Hi all.. writing this with rather mixed feelings, because the main contributor to this blog is unable to do so right now - he's currently in a ward, recovering from a rather major surgery to his spine. So those who do come by to check on how things are at Joyful, or to know a bit more about the 40 days' PDL that's currently ongoing.. you may have to wait a little more longer k?

Today's entry focuses on this pretty great guy - the guy who had given so much to us and to God, commonly known as Great Leader, Da Ge, Lao Da, or.. well - just Ben. He has a great big booming loud voice and a joyous, hearty laugh. Very easily identifiable, and very.. loud. :).. It was, unsurprisingly, the sound we missed (I think ah) most during the times he's not around.
I've actually known him a long while now, (though Peter has probably known him for longer). Cat, his wife, is definitely a very calming counterpoint to his buoyant nature, and they both never fail to make me feel anything but relaxed and comfortable in their presence. He's pretty good at driving things too, and each time he pulls something off, like the church plays, for example - I'm surprised at how it could ever have happened (though I was there each time).

We learned about people who were EGR (Extra Grace Required) last Saturday. I realize, thinking back, that I could very well be one of them? And many others, whom I may not necessarily expend the extra effort and time trying to get to know or understand - Ben and Cat are willing to spend time with them all. He's really a big guy with a real big heart I think.. and I think he really spends A LOT of money on his bulk sms'es, either updating us on PDL stuff, or to just encourage us with bible verses (which often come at very opportune times), or to let us forward our prayer requests to him for our prayer time every Monday.

Though now this particular "duty" has now been taken up by Elder Yeo! One of his messages - "today's prayer item is only ONE - pray for Ben. Pray, pray, pray!".. heehee

The pain to Ben's leg came rather suddenly - he was admitted to the ward around a week before the op? During the time when we visited him, it was obvious that he must have been in a lot of pain - and even then he was still witnessing from his sickbed, and regaling us with stories and anecdotes - (and sending us bulk sms'es still).. All the while he praised God, and never uttered a single word of complaint about the situation he was in. This is something for me to learn and follow, I think.

And PTL - the surgery was a success! Really looking forward to seeing Ben rejoin our fold. Pray still for him, the fact that the surgery was a success is only the first step to what I think could be a long road to recovery. But in God, and with all your prayers, we might just see Ben up and on his feet in no time, Amen?
